Deputy CM cum Finance Minister Jagdish Deora will present the annual budget for the financial year 2026-27, on which everyone will keep an eye. This time’s budget is going to be special in many ways. Everyone is keeping an eye on what will be special for each class in this. What gift will the tribals especially get? Also, how much budget will be given to eliminate malnutrition. Will the budget for malnutrition be increased?

Madhya Pradesh budget and malnutrition

Senior journalist from Madhya Pradesh Rakesh Kumar Malviya has been working on malnutrition by associating with the social organization Vikas Samvad for the last several years. He says that the nutritional situation in Madhya Pradesh is not very good. Malnutrition is especially high among tribal children. In this situation, it becomes necessary that the government implements good schemes keeping these children in mind. The budget should be allocated as much as possible and increased year after year, but the situation is just the opposite.”

Nutrition budget decreased in last years

Senior journalist Rakesh Kumar Explains, “In the 2019 budget, the budget allocation for nutrition scheme related to children was Rs 1700 crore, which will be reduced to around Rs 1200 crore in the year 2023-24. The budget given for the nutrition of children is continuously decreasing. The government had taken a very good initiative and made a nutrition policy, but there was not enough budget allocation for it, due to which no concrete work has been done on it. The budget allocation per child has been increased to Rs 15 per child. We hope that in the coming budget, the government will especially take care of these children and increase the budget, so that adequate food can be provided to the tribal children.”

Despite this, malnutrition and anemia are prevalent in almost every district of the state. According to the report, even today the level of malnutrition in 36 districts of Madhya Pradesh ranges from 30 percent to 47 percent.

There is no seriousness regarding nutrition

According to NFHS-5 in Madhya Pradesh, the number of underweight children between 0 to 5 years is 33 percent. There were 42.8 percent in NFHS-4. According to NFHS-5, among the districts of Madhya Pradesh, Burhanpur and Balaghat have the lowest undernutrition of children aged 0 to 5 years with 47.2 and 44.9 percent respectively. Mandsaur and Indore have the lowest undernutrition at 22.9 and 24.9 percent respectively. In Madhya Pradesh, on one hand, the malnutrition figures in Guna, Morena and Bhind districts are looking better in NFHS-4 as compared to NFHS-5. There are also 5 districts where instead of improving, the level of malnutrition has worsened, which include Balaghat, Burhanpur, Katni, Sagar and Ujjain.

increasing number of stunted children

The survey has been done according to NFHS-5. According to him, there is some decrease in the figures of stunted children, but despite this, there are 9 districts of the state in which the total percentage of stunted children has increased from earlier. Stunted children include those children whose height is not increasing according to their age. Meaning he is less than average height. According to NFHS-5, 35.7 percent children in Madhya Pradesh are stunted. This figure was 50 percent in NFHS-3 and 42 percent in NFHS-4. It is also a matter of concern that in 9 out of these 14 districts, after NFHS-4, the percentage of stunted children has increased in NFHS-5 also. In this, Katni is at the forefront with 49.5 percent.

Why does malnutrition occur?

After all, what is malnutrition? It can be understood that malnutrition occurs in children and adults also. Malnutrition in children affects their entire life. Malnutrition among adolescent girls and women also has serious consequences. Because this not only makes them weak, but also increases the chances of children becoming malnourished. The situation that arises due to not getting the balanced diet necessary for the body for a long time is the situation of malnutrition. A balanced diet means not only grains, but also any pulses, vegetables, edible oil, milk, any fruit and so on. If the family eats eggs, they can also be given along. Due to malnutrition, the body of children and women is unable to fight diseases and they easily become victims of many diseases.

What hope do tribals have from the budget?

of tribal affairs Knowledgeable Chand Singh Pattavi He says, “The people of the tribal community have a lot of expectations from the upcoming budget of Madhya Pradesh. This budget should be education, health, agriculture and employment oriented budget. However, they also express a concern that till now the budget of the state has come under the BJP government. In it, the budget of education, health and employment of tribals has only been cut, whereas this budget needs to be increased rather than reduced. Still, migration due to unemployment in the society has not stopped. Malnutrition is at its peak. There is also a lack of education in the society. There is shortage and poverty is also prevalent. In such a situation, a special budget is needed to raise their level.
