Ahmedabad: Once again a conspiracy to smuggle drugs has failed in Gujarat. More than 200 kg of drugs have been seized from Porbandar beach. This success was achieved in the joint operation of Gujarat ATS and Coast Guard. Gujarat ATS has arrested two drug smugglers from Iran. There is a possibility of more revelations in this matter.
Gujarat ATS SP K. Of. Patel received a tip-off that “Iranian drug smuggler Haji Fida has loaded approximately 200 kg of suspected chemical into a boat from Konark Port in Iran and will enter Indian waters near IMBL, approximately 140 nautical miles from Porbandar, between February 15 and February 16, 2026, load it onto an Indian boat and send it to Punjab.”
Based on this tip-off, ATS SP K. Under the guidance of Siddharth and DSP SL Chaudhary, a team of police staff including ATS left for Porbandar. This information was shared with the Indian Coast Guard and a joint team of Gujarat ATS and Indian Coast Guard was formed.
In this joint operation, the team stopped a suspicious Iranian speed boat on 16 February 2026 at around 8 pm, about 140 nautical miles off Porbandar in India’s IMBL border and two Iranian persons in the boat were taken into custody.
The accused, identified as Abdul Majeed and Abdul Sattar, are residents of Chabahar, Iran, officials said. Besides, 203 packets and an Iranian speed boat were also seized from them.
An official said that a total of 203 packets, weighing about 203 kg, containing suspected chemical were recovered. Later, the recovered suspected chemical was brought to the Porbandar Coast Guard Station by the Iranian speed boat and the arrested Iranians, and the FSL team analyzed the quantity of the seized suspected chemical and legal action was taken.
