One of the most dangerous terrorist attacks targeted a CRPF convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on February 14, 2019, in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, in which 40 CRPF soldiers were killed.

There were 78 buses in the convoy in which about 2500 people were going from Jammu to Srinagar. According to a local news agency, Pakistan’s terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed took responsibility for the attack and said that it was done by a suicide bomber.

However, India launched several counter-terror operations, including air strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan, due to which tensions increased considerably. The Pulwama terrorist attack not only increased the tension between India and Pakistan, but also sparked discussion across the world about cross-border terrorism and security in Jammu and Kashmir. It is celebrated as ‘Black Day’ to remember the 40 brave CRPF soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the attack.
