LPG cylinder may become cheaper from January 1, government will give big relief to the common man

Gas Cylinder Price Cut: Only a few days are left for the arrival of the new year 2026. For people, New Year is no less than a festival. This New Year, the Indian government can give a big gift to crores of countrymen. There are speculations that soon we may see a reduction in the prices of LPG cylinders i.e. domestic gas.

No change in LPG cylinder from 9 March 2024
Let us tell you that government oil companies discuss the prices of LPG cylinders on the first of every month. There has been a significant reduction in the prices of commercial cylinders this year, which is a relief. But there has been no change in the prices of 14.2 kg cylinders used in homes.

LPG cylinder prices in these major cities
At present the price of non-subsidized domestic LPG cylinder in the capital Delhi is Rs 803. Whereas the beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme get a subsidy of Rs 300 for up to 9 cylinders annually, due to which they get an LPG cylinder for Rs 503. Apart from this, non-subsidized domestic cylinder is priced at Rs 879 in Kolkata city, Rs 852.50 in Mumbai and Rs 868.50 in Chennai. If we talk about the prices of 19 kg commercial cylinder, it is available at Rs 1580.50 in Delhi, Rs 1684 in Kolkata, Rs 1531.50 in Mumbai and Rs 1739.50 in Chennai.

Amid changes in the prices of commercial cylinders, a huge fall has been recorded in the prices of crude oil in the international market. Currently, crude oil is trading around $60 per barrel, which is the lowest level since 2021. According to data from Oilprice.com, Brent crude currently stands at $60.22 per barrel. This decrease in prices has occurred due to increase in supply of crude oil in the market and stable demand. Last year, oil prices had fallen below $60, which was the lowest level in the last 5 years.

This year, a total decline of 21 percent has been seen in the prices of crude oil, which is considered to be its weakest performance after the year 2020.

Many products are made from crude oil
Let us tell you that important products like petrol, diesel and LPG are made from crude oil. During the refining process, when crude oil is divided into many different hydrocarbon components, the first process produces petroleum gas, which is filled in LPG cylinders. Due to decline in the prices of crude oil in the international market, the profit margin of oil refining companies has improved, the benefits of which they can pass on directly to the consumers.
