Ambikapur: Farmers are now getting the benefits of the transparent and farmer-friendly system of paddy procurement centers operating in the district. Due to token system, time bound procurement, quick moisture testing and availability of basic facilities, the process of selling paddy has become much simpler and easier than before. Farmers no longer have to face unnecessary waiting or hassle to sell paddy.

Farmer Pinku Kerketta, resident of Gram Panchayat Shrigarh under Ambikapur development block, said that his paddy crop has been good this year. He has a total area of 59.60 quintals of paddy, which he has sold at Khairbar Paddy Procurement Centre. Farmer Kerketta said that the process of token cutting was completely organized and there was no problem of any kind in it.

He told that as soon as he reached the Khairbar procurement centre, the gate pass was issued, after which the moisture of the paddy was tested and gunny bags were immediately made available. The entire process was transparent and fast, due to which weighing and purchasing of paddy was completed in a short time. He said that he did not face any problem at any level while selling paddy.

Farmer Kerketta said that there is adequate arrangement for seating and clean drinking water for the farmers in the procurement centre. He said that earlier it used to take a whole day to sell paddy, but now the work is completed in limited time, due to which both time and labor are being saved.

He said that the state government led by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai is getting the highest price of paddy at Rs 3100 per quintal, due to which farmers have got a fair price for the crop. Due to this the economic condition of farmers is improving.

Farmers are using the amount received from crop sale to cultivate wheat, mustard and various vegetable crops in the Kerketta Rabi season. This is promoting multi-cropping farming and also increasing the sources of income for farmers. He said that due to timely payment and better system, farmers are now able to plan their future farming easily.

Farmer Kerketta praised the paddy procurement system and said that the present system is in the interest of the farmers. He purchased the paddy for the farmers.
Expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and the district administration for the arrangements.
