Raipur : The government’s ambitious scheme PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is spreading light in the lives of common citizens in Chhattisgarh. By taking advantage of this scheme, not only are people freed from the burden of electricity bills, but they are also creating a new identity of ‘Energy Provider’ by selling electricity. For Akhilesh Kumar Rajwade, a resident of Lakhanpur under Surguja district, the sun’s rays are now bringing not only light but also economic prosperity. Taking advantage of ‘PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme’, Akhilesh has installed a 2 kilowatt solar panel on the roof of his house, due to which his huge electricity bill has now become completely zero.
Journey from consumer to ‘energy giver’
Akhilesh says that before installing solar panels, his monthly electricity bill used to be between Rs 2,000 to 2,500. But now the situation has completely changed. He proudly said that earlier we were only consumers of electricity, but now we have become ‘energy givers’. After meeting our requirement, we are selling the extra power that is left to Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited, for which payment will be made at the end of the financial year.
Government subsidy made the path easy
Highlighting the financial ease of PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, he said that the subsidy received from the Central and State Government has made installing solar panels very affordable. Akhilesh has received a subsidy of Rs 60,000 from the Central Government and Rs 30,000 from the State Government. Adoption of solar energy has now become an accessible investment for middle class families with a total financial assistance of Rs 90,000 under this scheme.
Steps towards environmental protection
Akhilesh Kumar also described PM Surya Ghar free electricity scheme as revolutionary for the environment. According to him, solar energy is completely clean compared to the pollution and carbon dioxide emissions caused by conventional power generation. This is not only bringing economic benefits, but we are also creating a pollution-free environment for the coming generations.
Expressing his satisfaction over the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, Kamlesh expressed his gratitude to the Central and State Governments and appealed to other citizens to also take advantage of this scheme. He said that PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme not only empowers economically, but is also a big step towards making the country self-reliant in the field of energy.
