CG News: Today Union Minister Tokhan Sahu met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi. Minister Tokhan Sahu urged to include 3 major demands in the budget.
During this high-level meeting, Tokhan Sahu submitted proposals for three very important projects for the economic and basic progress of Chhattisgarh and requested to include them in the budget.
These three ‘game-changer’ projects were discussed:
Katghora-Dongargarh Railway Line (100% centrally funded)
Sahu urged the Finance Minister that this rail link, which is important from the point of view of energy security, should be completed with 100% Gross Budgetary Support (GBS). This line will prove to be the ‘lifeline’ for uninterrupted extraction of minerals from Korba coal field to Western India.
Wagon Manufacturing Factory in Bilaspur:
The demand for establishment of rail wagon factory in Bilaspur (SECR headquarters) was prominently placed. Tokhan Sahu said that due to the proximity of Bhilai Steel Plant, this project will not only be economical for the Railways, but will also prove to be a great source of employment for thousands of youth of Chhattisgarh.
Rejuvenation of Bilaspur Airport:
Considering the industrial and administrative importance of Bilaspur, special budgetary provision was demanded for runway expansion and modernization for operation of big aircraft like Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
Emphasis on Prime Minister’s ‘Gati Shakti’ vision
During the meeting, Tokhan Sahu said, “These projects are necessary to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve of ‘Gati Shakti’ and ‘Self-reliant India’. These will not only give a new boost to the economy of Chhattisgarh, but will also make a historic contribution to the country’s GDP.”
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman showed positive attitude on these proposals and assured all possible cooperation in the development of Chhattisgarh.
