The sensitive indices of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) – Sensex and Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened in the red today. In early trade, the Sensex fell 278.72 points to 83,538.97, while the Nifty fell 94.15 points to 25,681.85. Rupee rose 7 paise to 90.40 against the US dollar in early trade. In Asian markets outside India on Thursday, South Korea’s Kospi index fell more than 3 percent, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 index, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index were also trading in the red. Earlier on Wednesday, the stock markets had closed with marginal gains after the trading session ended. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 78.56 points or 0.09 per cent higher at 83,817.69 as the markets remained limited due to heavy fall in IT blue-chip shares. During the day’s trading session, the Sensex touched a high of 83,947.53 and a low of 83,119.95, with a swing of 827.58 points. The 50-share NSE Nifty closed at 25,776, up 48.45 points or 0.19 per cent.
Brent crude price fell to US $ 68.07
Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 2 per cent lower at US$68.07 per barrel in futures trade. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 29.79 crore on Wednesday.
