The resolution of energy self-reliance is coming true through Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana.

Raipur : Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, started under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the aim of making the country energy self-reliant and making clean and renewable energy available to the masses, is becoming a medium of positive change in the lives of common citizens. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, effective implementation of this scheme is being ensured in Chhattisgarh state, as a result of which today citizens are not only getting relief in electricity expenditure, but are also taking strong steps towards environmental protection and energy self-reliance.

Heera Ram Sahu, resident of Kharmora in Korba district, is one of the citizens who will benefit from this scheme. He got information about the scheme from news media. After getting the features and other information of the scheme, he decided to install solar panels at his residence. In June 2025, he installed a 3 kilowatt capacity solar plant at his house, the total cost of which was approximately Rs 2 lakh 10 thousand. In which a grant of Rs 78 thousand was provided by the Center and Rs 30 thousand was provided by the State Government. In this way, by receiving a total government assistance of Rs 1 lakh 8 thousand, the financial burden on them reduced and they easily got the benefits of the scheme.

There are four members in his family. Earlier, the electricity usage in his house was moderate and the electricity bill was payable every month as a regular expense. After panel installation, their dependence on traditional electricity has almost ended. At present his monthly electricity bill is coming only between Rs 30 to Rs 70, with this savings he is getting enough convenience in financial management after retirement.

Heera Ram Sahu, who previously worked in CSEB and is currently living a retired life, expressed happiness and said that Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana is actually very useful and beneficial for the common people. This has reduced household expenditure and has also promoted environmental protection through the use of clean and green energy. Expressing his gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Sai, he said that the public welfare schemes of the government are bringing real changes in the lives of the citizens.
