Raipur : It is a government program to make rural poor families, especially women, self-reliant by organizing them through self-help groups and providing them skill development, financial inclusion and livelihood opportunities. The objective of this program is to make rural women economically independent and socially empowered and to eradicate poverty. Self-help groups have to get loans from banks and provide financial assistance at low interest rates.

Continuous efforts are being made to provide social and economic security to the women self-help groups associated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission Bihan. In this context, this work is being done effectively in Sukma district under the direction of the Collector and the guidance of the CEO of the District Panchayat. Mrs. Arpana Bose Dhondra, resident of Konta, a member of Radha Krishna Women Self-Help Group of Konta development block located at the extreme end of the district, died suddenly on 17 October 2025. After this tragic incident, immediate action was taken as per the instructions of the district administration. With the help of National Rural Livelihood Mission (BIHAN), the insurance claim was prepared under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana linked to the bank account of Arpana Bose. This case along with necessary documents was duly submitted to State Bank of India, Branch Konta.

The bank completed all the formalities on time and sent the insurance claim to the higher office. As a result, on 26 December 2025, an insurance amount of Rs 2 lakh was approved and deposited in the account of the nominee of the deceased member, Tinku Bose (son). In this entire process, there was commendable cooperation from PRP, FLCRP and officers and employees of State Bank of India of Bihan Project. This timely assistance provided financial support to the bereaved family.

It is noteworthy that government schemes, especially Bihan and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, are becoming a strong support for needy families in times of crisis. It provides a life cover of Rs 2 lakh to bank account holders in the age group of 18-50, which provides financial security to the family in case of death due to any reason.
