Bhopal. On the call of UFBU, bank officers and employees in the capital Bhopal held a strong, disciplined and united demonstration demanding implementation of a five-day banking week. Officials of organizations associated with various public sector banks and a large number of officers and employees were present in this demonstration organized at the venue PNB Press Complex. On this occasion, State Bank of India Officers Association, Bhopal Circle President Anil Kumar Srivastava, General Secretary Sanjeev Mishra and Circle Deputy General Secretary Rajneesh Puranic, Circle Media Incharge Arvind Pandiyar were present with dignity. Along with this, Subin Sinha, President of All India Bank Officers Confederation, Madhya Pradesh and senior officials of UFBU and All India Bank Officers Confederation, V.K. Sharma, Nazir Qureshi, Nirbhay Singh, Sanjay Kudeshia, Sunil Singh, Deepak Ratan Sharma and Deepak Nair were present on the stage. A large number of senior officers and employees of various banks including All India Bank Employees Association officials Praveen Meghani, Pankaj Thakur, Vasu Jethani, Siddharth Singh participated in the demonstration.

Keynote Speakers’ Statements
Anil Kumar Srivastava said
“The five-day banking week has today become a mandatory requirement for bank employees. It is not just a matter of convenience, but a fundamental question related to work-life balance, health and quality of banking service.”
Sanjeev Mishra said in his address
“The five-day working system is in force in most of the institutions in the country, yet additional work is being continuously taken from the bank employees. Now it is necessary to end this unjust system.”
Rajneesh Puranic said
“The ever-increasing targets, pressure and long working hours are having a serious impact on the mental and physical health of bank executives. A five-day banking week is the need of the hour.”
Subin Sinha said in clear words
“This movement is a symbol of unity across the country under the banner of UFBU. If the government does not take a decision soon, this movement will become more widespread.”
Senior Comrade V.K. Sharma said
āThe five-day banking week will not only provide relief to personnel, but will also make customer service more organized, effective and quality.ā
Arvind Pandiyar, media in-charge, said
“This movement is a powerful medium to convey the voice of bank employees to the policy makers. The message through the media is clear that any further delay in decision will not be accepted.” During the demonstration, the entire campus echoed with slogans of āImplement five-day banking weekā. In the end, the Joint Forum warned that if a positive decision is not taken soon, the movement will be further intensified at the statewide and countrywide level.
