New Delhi. A painful incident has come to light in Semari area of Salumber subdivision of Udaipur district of Rajasthan, where an elderly woman and her five-year-old grandson, sleeping in Jahat Phalan near Gudasar village, were murdered with a sharp weapon. The police started investigation as soon as they arrived, while the accused son-in-law is currently absconding.

According to the information, Gauri (65) and her grandson Surendra (5) were sleeping in the hall outside the rooms. During the night, miscreants attacked both of them with sharp weapons. He was stabbed several times on his stomach and chest. Elderly Gauri was also attacked and her feet were broken into pieces and the silver bangles worn on her feet were taken out. Surendra had recently come to his grandmother’s house. At the time of the incident, other family members had gone to a satsang going on nearby.

In the morning the neighbors saw the bodies of both and immediately informed the police. Semari Police Station Officer Gopal Krishna Meena, Deputy Chandmal Singaria, Salumber SP Rajesh Yadav and FSL team reached the spot and collected evidence.

According to SP Rajesh Yadav, looking at the scene of the incident, it appears that an attempt has been made to portray the incident as a robbery, whereas no other item has been stolen from the house. The purpose of cutting the feet of the old man seems to be only to show that he was carrying the bracelet. He said that both of them died due to head injuries.

The deceased’s husband Dhanna Meena has alleged that the murder was committed by son-in-law Gangaram Meena. He says that Gangaram used to fight every day under the influence of alcohol and would often threaten to kill him if he was interrupted. The family members are adamant on the arrest of the accused. The police are consulting the family members and the search for the accused is ongoing. Both the bodies have been kept in Semari Mortuary. Police said that the matter is being investigated from every aspect and action will be taken soon on the basis of technical and scientific evidence.
