Said- If Rahul Gandhi does not come in favor of the result, then he accuses EVM-vote theft, welcomes him on victory.
Thiruvananthapuram. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi welcomed the results of urban body elections in Kerala. He congratulated UDF for its better performance. Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s congratulatory message, BJP leader Amit Malviya criticized Rahul Gandhi for questioning the election results without any evidence. Malviya wrote that whenever the election results of any state are not in favor of Rahul Gandhi, he questions EVMs and accuses them of vote theft, but when Congress wins, he welcomes the same process.
According to media reports, while retweeting Rahul Gandhi’s post on victory in Kerala civic elections, BJP leader Malviya wrote that democracy cannot run on selective trust. It is not right for any leader to celebrate victory under the same electoral system and defame the same system after defeat. Instead of strengthening democratic institutions, such an attitude weakens public confidence.
Malviya wrote in the post that if the opposition in India wants to become a credible alternative, it will have to demonstrate consistency and accountability. Questioning the same electoral process without any evidence after participating in it again and again raises serious questions on political integrity and democratic morality. He wrote- This is not a matter of any leader or any one party. For the opposition, this is a time of political introspection on credibility, responsibility and honesty. Democracy requires more than excuses. There is a need for a leadership that respects institutions even after defeat.
Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi had welcomed the performance of the party-led UDF in the Kerala civic elections and thanked the people of Kerala for reposing their confidence in him. He had written that the election results show increasing confidence in the UDF in the state. These results point towards a big victory for the alliance in the upcoming assembly. People want an accountable government, a government that responds and delivers results.
