Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a gathering in Guwahati, Assam on Saturday (December 19, 2025) has targeted the Congress. He said that the development of Assam and the North-East was not on the agenda of the Congress governments, rather a conspiracy was being hatched to make Assam a part of East Pakistan.
He said, “People sitting in the Congress governments used to say that who goes to Assam and the North-East? They thought that Assam and the North-East need modern airports, better railways and highways. Because of this thinking, the Congress neglected this entire region for decades.
Development of Assam is a responsibility for me- PM Modi
Prime Minister Modi said, “Congress kept making mistakes for 6-7 decades, Modi is correcting those mistakes one by one. For me, the development of Assam is a need, a responsibility and also an accountability. Therefore, in the last 11 years, projects worth lakhs of crores have been started for Assam and the North-East. Assam has become the number one state in implementing the Indian Justice Code (BNS). During the time of Congress, it was impossible to get a government job in Assam without a slip, without any expenses, But today thousands of youth are getting jobs here without any slip and without any expense.
Districts considered to be affected by violence are developing today: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “During the Congress governments, the period of violence continued to increase without any stop. Now we are moving towards ending it within just 10 days. The areas in the North-East, where violence and bloodshed were once seen, are now getting digital connectivity through 4G and 5G technology. The districts which were once considered violence-hit, are today developing as aspirational districts.
He said, “In the coming time, these areas will also become industrial corridors. Because of this, today a new confidence has arisen regarding the North East and we will have to strengthen it further.”
