Raipur : Bihan Yojana under the National Rural Livelihood Mission is playing an important role in the economic empowerment of rural women. In this sequence, Panchbai Sahu, resident of village Khapridih of Lormi development block of Mungeli district, has achieved success in the direction of self-reliance by joining the Bihaan scheme. By joining Bihaan Yojana, she has changed her fate and has now become a successful businessman. Before joining the self-help group, Panchbai Sahu’s financial condition was very weak. To meet the daily needs of the family, they had to take loans from moneylenders at high interest rates. Due to economic dependence, not only the basic needs of the family remained unfulfilled, but self-esteem was also affected.
Mrs. Panch Bai told that under Bihan Yojana, through Maa Saraswati Women Self-Help Group, she got the opportunity to gain financial literacy, collective cooperation and become self-reliant. He received Rs 15 thousand from revolving fund, bank loan of Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand and Rs 60 thousand as CIF amount for the business. Besides, he also got additional support of Rs 30 thousand at the group level. With the amount received he started a furniture shop. With hard work, proper planning and the support of the group, his business continued to grow. Today his monthly income has reached approximately Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 03 lakh. Due to this, the education of their children has improved as well as the standard of living has improved. Today, Panchawai Sahu is not only successful herself, but is also inspiring other women of the village to join the group and become self-reliant.
