Opposition is trying to mislead the country in the name of MNREGA: Shivraj

New Delhi. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan made a scathing attack on the opposition parties, saying that they are trying to mislead the country in the name of MNREGA. He alleged that misinformation is being deliberately spread about the government’s new rural employment scheme, whereas the truth is just the opposite.
In a video message released on social media, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the Vikas Bharat Gram Rozgar Yojana is not an attempt to step back from MNREGA, but to move one step ahead of it. He clarified that now rural laborers will get legal guarantee of employment not only for 100 days but for 125 days. Along with this, the provisions of unemployment allowance have been further strengthened and provision for additional compensation in case of delay in wage payment has also been made.
The Union Minister said that the government has increased the budgetary allocation for rural employment schemes and the aim is to strengthen the foundation of a developed India through the creation of self-reliant villages. He bluntly said that this bill is in favor of the poor, laborers and development and not against them as the opposition is propagating.
