Union Minister said- the country is ready for the new economy of the future

New Delhi. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that small and modular nuclear reactors provide viable and practical solutions to meet the energy needs of data centers for AI-based economy and railways. The Railway Minister said that with the passage of the Sustainable Exploitation and Development of Atomic Energy Bill for transformation in India, the country is ready for the new economy of the future. According to media reports, Vaishnav, while talking to reporters during an event in Delhi, said that as the world adopts artificial intelligence, data centers will power the AI-based economy. These data centers will require huge amounts of energy, which can only be obtained from nuclear energy. The Minister said that nuclear energy is the only source which can provide continuous base load and huge electric current without any pollution. He said the new design makes it possible to set up a nuclear power plant in a container, which can be set up on 14 acres of land.

Vaishnav said 15-30 MW capacity nuclear power plants used to power ships can also be used for railway operations. He said that Railways draws power from the grid at 700 locations across the country. Small and modular reactors can also be used as a sustainable source of electricity. He said nuclear power plants have many built-in safety features that make their large-scale use possible. Vaishnav said the peace bill was passed so that nuclear energy could become a major source of clean energy. The Peace Bill, allowing private sector companies to set up nuclear power plants, was passed by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the winter session last month. The President has given his assent to the Peace Act.
