On the eve of New Year, a wonderful confluence of devotion and joy is being seen in the court of Baba Shyam. As the night is setting and the new year is knocking, the city of Khatu is resonating with ‘Shyam Naam’. Lakhs of devotees from far and wide are reaching Khatu to have darshan of Baba Shyam, while the queues of pedestrians are continuously increasing from Ringas to Khatu.
The atmosphere is filled with devotion with chants of ‘Jai Shri Shyam’ everywhere. Devotees say that starting the new year with the darshan of Baba Shyam has its own happiness and peace. Many devotees start their journey on foot from Ringas itself so that their wishes are fulfilled by the penance of walking.
Lines of devotees started forming from morning itself for darshan in the main temple of Khatudham and this sequence continues till night. Devotees are excitedly waiting to see the tableau of Baba Shyam. Supernatural decorations have been done in the temple complex – the entire complex is illuminated with divine aura with colorful lights and beautiful flower decorations.
What did the devotees say about the arrangement?
In view of the crowd, the police administration has made strict security arrangements. Special deployment of police personnel has been made from Ringas to Khatu. The team of officers and volunteers are continuously monitoring so that there is no disturbance of any kind.
Devotees say that this time good arrangements have been made by both the police administration and the temple committee. The crowd is being managed in a systematic manner and separate queues have been formed for darshan so that no one has to face any problem. The temple committee has also made proper arrangements for food, water and rest.
Confluence of enthusiasm and devotion in the walking journey from Ringas
The approximately 17 kilometer long road from Ringas to Khatu is echoing with the name of Shyam these days. Lakhs of devotees are traveling on foot. Many devotees start the journey with families and groups at night and reach Khatu Dham by early morning. At various places on the way, volunteers and social organizations are distributing water and prasad to the passengers. It seems as if this scene is presenting a beautiful combination of faith and service.
Many elderly devotees are traveling with their children and family members, while the younger generation is also participating enthusiastically. Devotees say that it is a matter of good fortune for them to start the new year in the name of Baba Shyam.
Khatu decorated with faith, order and joy
The crowd of devotees on New Year’s Eve in Khatudham has further brightened the religious atmosphere. Special decoration of welcome gates and lighting has been done in the entire Khatu town. Local people are also busy serving the visitors in shops and Dharamshalas.
Every face looks full of devotion and excitement. Children, women and elderly people are all engrossed in the praises of Baba Shyam. It seems as if the entire Khatu city has turned ‘black’.
