Bhopal : The first phase of SIR has been completed in Madhya Pradesh including the capital Bhopal. As of October 27, there were 21 lakh 25 thousand voters in Bhopal. But now the names of 4 lakh 38 thousand voters may be removed from the new voter list. Bhopal District Deputy Electoral Officer Bhuvan Gupta said, “Till the last day of submission of SIR forms, mapping of 79 percent voters has been completed. While 20.6 percent i.e. 4 lakh 38 thousand voters have been found unconnectable.”

Draft will be published on January 23

Bhuvan Gupta told “The final draft of the voter list will be published on January 23. Those voters who will not participate in it can make claims and objections for it after January 23. Along with this, one lakh 13 thousand voters have been identified whose link to the voter list of 2003 was not found. These voters are also in the category of nine mappings. They will be heard individually.”

For this, notices will be issued to unmapping voters from December 19. Later their documents will be verified. After this their names will be included in the voter list.

Hearing of claims and objections will be held in all 85 wards

Bhuvan Gupta Said, “For the voters whose mapping has not been done, camps will be set up in different wards. BLOs will sit in all 85 wards, who will resolve the claims and objections. Along with this, a proposal to make 85 additional election registration officers has been sent to the Commission. They will hear the notices in all 85 wards.”

In this way new voters can get their names added

District Election Officer Kaushalendra Vikram Singh Said, “The final draft of the voter list will be released on January 23, along with it the round of claims and objections will also begin. During this time, the new voters as on January 1, 2026, can also apply for addition or amendment of their names. Our BLOs will sit in the booths during this period. At present, the names of 4 lakh 38 thousand voters are being deleted in the district.”

50 days time to submit citizenship

Deputy Election Officer Bhuvan Gupta “No notice will be sent to the people appearing in the list containing uncollectable sheets. After the publication of the draft voter list, if the names of such voters are not found in the list, then they will have to register themselves as new voters through Form 6,” the ED said.

“For this, applicants will have to submit proof of name, address and date of birth along with proof of citizenship along with the application. Such voters will be given 50 days time to present the citizenship document.”

5 categories of documents for SIR

1. A person born in India on July 1, 1987 will have to provide a certificate to confirm the date and place of birth.

2. A person born from July 1, 1987 to December 2, 2004 will have to provide documents proving his father’s date and place of birth along with proof of his own date and place of birth.

3. A person born after December 2, 2004 will have to provide proof of mother’s date and place of birth along with father’s place of birth certificate. Whereas if none of the parents are Indians, then a copy of their valid passport-visa will have to be given.

4. A person born outside the country will have to provide a certificate of birth registration issued by the Indian Mission.

5. If someone has got Indian citizenship through registration, then he will have to produce a certificate of citizenship registration.
