Raipur : Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Lakshmi Rajwade has said that disabled people are an integral part of the mainstream society and it is very important to think sensitively and use respectful language towards them. She was addressing the 16th state level marriageable young men and women introduction conference organized at Ashirwad Bhawan, Baron Bazar, Raipur under the auspices of All India Viklang Chetna Parishad (Chhattisgarh Province).

Minister Rajwade said in his address that this conference is not just a platform for introduction, but also a meaningful effort to move disabled young men and women towards a dignified married life. He informed that the mass marriage of the couples who agreed in the conference will be organized on 28 February 2026 and 01 March 2026.
He said that a special achievement of the conference was that ordinary young men and women also participated in it, who came forward with a positive attitude for marriage of persons with disabilities. This is an inspiring initiative towards social inclusion and equality.
Minister Rajwade made an important social appeal during the program and said that the word “Divyangjan” should be used instead of “Disabled”. He said that Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the use of the word “Divyangjan” with the aim of strengthening respect and self-confidence. Words reflect our thoughts and feelings, hence society should adopt respectable language.

Minister Lakshmi Rajwade said that the Chhattisgarh government is working with full commitment for the rights, respect and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. Such events lay a strong foundation for positive change in the society.
