Raipur : Labor Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan took a marathon review meeting of the Labor Department in two phases at the Ministry (Mahanadi Bhawan) located in Nava Raipur on Thursday. In the first phase meeting, the schemes of the three divisions under the Labor Department and the protection of workers’ rights in factories were reviewed. Minister Dewangan instructed the officials to inspect the factory regularly. Take full care of protecting the interests of workers. If any deficiency is found, direct the concerned industry. Instructions were also given to review the inspections conducted every month.
The Labor Minister told the officials present in the meeting that the implementation of workers’ welfare schemes, protection of their interests and health protection is of utmost importance. As per the intention of State Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the labor brothers and sisters should get maximum benefits of the schemes and try to take full care of the safety standards. Complete the registration of workers, renewal, and implementation of schemes within the time period. In the meeting, Labor Department Secretary Himshikhar Gupta, Deputy Secretary Vipul Gupta, Additional Labor Commissioner S. l. Jangde, Savita Mishra, BOC Secretary Girish Ramteke and field officers from the districts were present.
Special focus on Contract Labor Act
In the meeting, Labor Minister Dewangan gave special instructions regarding the Contract Labor Act. Instructions were given to ensure the benefits of ESIC and PF to the workers registered under this Act and also to tally the number of workers. The contractor was asked to ensure that the number of workers employed is equal to the number of workers who are licensed.
Along with this, instructions were given to quickly resolve the issue of gratuity payment to employees who have retired from private companies and to resolve the complaints coming through various mediums in a timely manner.
Instructions to start Shaheed Veer Narayan Labor Food Center in seven districts
In the meeting, the Chief Minister’s announcement of food centers at affordable rates under Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Shram Anna Yojana was also reviewed. Instructions were given to start Labor Food Centers in the districts along with the state soon. In these, it has been said to start centers in Mungeli, Sakti, Jagdalpur, Kanker, Khairagarh Chui Khan Gandai, Jashpur and Jagdalpur.
Instructions to regularly check the health of workers
In the second phase of the meeting, Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan gave many important instructions in the joint meeting of officials of Employees’ State Insurance Services and Industrial Health Protection. Labor Minister Dewangan reviewed the dispensaries of all the districts. Instructions were given to further increase the number of OPDs and provide quality treatment to the workers. Instructions were given to make the daily attendance of the dispensary staff on the basis of biometrics. Where has there been a plan to expand the facilities in the major dispensaries? Minister Dewangan has also given instructions to post the address of the nearest dispensary in the industries. Besides, instructions were given to regularly inspect the factory and take necessary action.
