What did the Foreign Ministry say?
The Ministry of External Affairs said that India is monitoring the situation in Venezuela and is concerned about the safety and welfare of the people there. The ministry said that the Indian Embassy in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, is in touch with the Indian community living there and is providing all possible assistance.
Appeal to find solution through dialogue
The External Affairs Ministry statement said India reiterates its commitment to the security and well-being of the people of Venezuela. We appeal to all parties concerned to work towards a peaceful solution through dialogue, so that peace and stability is maintained in the region.
Advice issued for citizens
Let us tell you that earlier on Saturday, India issued a travel advisory for its citizens and advised them to avoid non-essential travel to Venezuela. Apart from this, Indians living there have been asked to exercise utmost caution, limit unnecessary movement and remain in touch with the Indian Embassy.
