Bhopal : On the 95th death anniversary of immortal revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reached his birthplace Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar’s historic Azad Kutiya on Friday. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav paid tribute to his supreme sacrifice for the nation by garlanding the statue of immortal martyr Chandrashekhar Azad. Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Nagar Singh Chauhan, MP Anita Chauhan, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade, IG Anurag, Collector Neetu Mathur, Superintendent of Police Raghuvansh Singh Bhadauria and public representatives and officers were present.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav visited the exhibition based on the unforgettable contribution of revolutionary immortal martyr Chandrashekhar Azad in the freedom struggle at Azad Kutiya. He also visited the museum established in the Azad Kutiya complex itself, where documents, pictures and mementos related to his life, struggle and revolutionary activities are preserved.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav remembered the martyrdom of immortal martyr Chandrashekhar Azad and said that all the revolutionary heroes of India have made incomparable contribution in the freedom struggle. A brave revolutionary like Martyr Chandrashekhar Azad, despite many difficulties, kept the flame of freedom bright in those times with his indomitable courage and sacrifice. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also remembered the struggle of the heroes of tribal areas and said that they strengthened the freedom movement by fighting against the British. On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also paid tribute to the sacrifice of tribal hero Shaheed Chhitu Kirar and remembered his contribution.

Chandrashekhar Azad, born on 23 July 1906 in Alirajpur district, spent his early life on the holy land of then Bhabra, present day Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar. In his childhood, he stayed with Bhil children and learned how to use bow and arrow and shooting. Azad, who grew up in a tribal area, took inspiration for courage, self-respect and struggle from here, which became the foundation of his revolutionary life. On 27 February 1931, he was surrounded by the police at Alfred Park (now Chandrashekhar Azad Park) in Allahabad (present-day Prayagraj) due to the betrayal of one of his comrades. At that time, he had only one bullet left, so as per his resolve, he made the supreme sacrifice for the country by shooting himself. Formerly known as Bhabra, the name of this tehsil was officially changed to Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar in 2011. His ancestral home, associated with his memories, has been preserved as Azad Kutiya. It has now also developed as a martyr memorial and tourist centre.
