Jabalpur/Satna: A young man was shot dead in broad daylight during the city bandh in Sihora and Khitaula police station area on Thursday. Two youths riding a bike shot dead the sand trader and fled from the spot. Due to bullet injury in his temple, the young man fell down on the spot in a bleeding state. The people present at the spot took the injured youth to the district hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead after preliminary examination.

Dharmendra Singh Thakur alias Chintu (42), resident of Khitaula, was shot by two unknown miscreants at around 1 pm on Thursday afternoon. According to preliminary information, the young man died on the spot due to bullet injury in his head. Dharmendra Singh had left the stadium on a bike to go to Khitaula market. During this time, two bike riders came chasing him and opened fire on Dharmendra. The young man fell on the road as soon as he was shot. Hearing the sound of firing, people nearby reached the spot, till the accused fled away after committing the crime.

Case registered against unknown accused

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police immediately reached the spot and registered a case of murder and sent the body for post-mortem after Panchnama. The police have started investigation regarding the accused youth. After the incident, there is a situation of tension in Khitaula and Sihora areas. Police appealed to the people to maintain peace and stay away from rumours.

Fear of murder due to personal rivalry

Some time ago also Assu had shot my brother.” The family members allege that “In the said case, after being released from jail on bail, Assu had threatened to kill Dharmendra. Assu is a person of criminal nature and many criminal cases are registered against him.”

Deputy Police in this regard Superintendent Rural Akanksha Upadhyay Giving information, he said, “When the police reached the spot after receiving information about firing at Khitaula intersection, the body of Dharmendra Singh Thakur alias Chintu was found. The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. The investigation in this matter is still going on. On the basis of preliminary information, two accused have committed this crime. Police will take further action on the basis of the complaint of the family.”

Injured Ramnaresh Verma (60), resident of Amdara police station area, is posted as Peon in Prem Nagar Electricity Department. Ramnaresh was going to the station after finishing duty. From where he was going to his village Maihar Amdara by taking the train. Meanwhile, near the beach inside Prem Nagar, he was shot with a machete by an unknown person.
