Raipur : Due to the schemes of Chhattisgarh government, farmers of the state are rapidly moving towards modern farming. Through the State Seed and Agricultural Development Corporation Limited, modern agricultural equipment is being provided to the farmers on government subsidy, due to which the cost of farming is reducing and production is increasing. This has made farming easy and profitable. Due to which the farmers of the state are moving towards self-reliance.
Seed Corporation is providing modern agricultural equipment to farmers for ploughing, sowing, transplanting and harvesting through CHAMPUS portal. These include rotavator, automatic reaper, paddy transplanter, laser land leveler, power weeder, mulcher, thresher, seed drill and drip and sprinkler irrigation systems.
Agriculture Department officials said that in the current financial year, the Seed Corporation has benefited by providing modern agricultural equipment to 912 farmers under Mechanization Submission (Component-1), 3375 farmers under Shakambhari Scheme, 3821 farmers under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Irrigation Yojana (Drip) and 16,644 farmers under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Irrigation Yojana (Sprinkler).
With the use of these modern machines, the labor of farmers has reduced and along with saving time, production capacity has increased. While traditional farming involved more labor and costs, farming with modern equipment has now started giving more profits at less expense.
Even in tribal dominated areas of the state, especially in Bastar division, farmers are achieving better results in farming by adopting modern agricultural techniques. While earlier farmers were dependent only on paddy cultivation, now they are increasingly moving towards vegetable production and horticulture crops also. Farmers are earning good profits by selling their products in local markets as well as outside markets through drip irrigation system.
Farmer Narayan Dallu Patel of Bilaspur district said that now one acre of crop can be harvested in 2 to 3 hours with the automatic reaper, whereas earlier it used to take a whole day with 10 to 12 labourers. This has reduced the harvesting cost by 50 to 60 percent.
Farmer Hiralal Dhanuram Sahu of Raipur district said that the preparation of the field is done in a few hours with the rotavator. Where earlier it used to take 3 to 4 days, now the field is prepared in less time, due to which the production has increased by 20 to 25 percent.
Farmer Lekhuram Kailash Chhedaiya of Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district said that by sowing with seed drill, 15 to 25 percent seed has been saved and 20 to 30 percent increase has been recorded in the production.
The objective of Seed Corporation is to make farmers self-reliant by connecting them with modern technology. With this initiative of the corporation, the farmers of the state are becoming not only technically strong but also economically strong and are becoming partners in realizing the vision of a developed India.
