Bhopal : The year 2026 is being celebrated as Farmer Welfare Year in the state. Farmers are setting an example of self-reliance by innovating in the field of agriculture. Ramesh Satahate, a progressive farmer of village Rajna in Pandhurna district, has set a new example of success by adopting innovation and modern agricultural techniques. He has earned a profit of more than Rs 10 lakh from the sweetcorn crop in seven acres and a net profit of Rs 1.5 lakh per acre.
Farmer Ramesh told that the traders are buying the sweetcorn crop planted in the month of October from the farm itself at the rate of Rs 15 per kg and taking it to Raipur and Nagpur. The yield of about 120 quintals per acre is being obtained. Even after deducting the expenses of about thirty thousand rupees, a profit of one and a half lakh rupees per acre is being obtained. Such innovative farmers are also a source of inspiration for other farmers of the district. In Rajna and Seoni villages alone, about 50 farmers are growing sweetcorn crop in about 100 acres in Rabi season.
Farmer Kailash Pawar made innovation by cultivating G-9 banana in rocky land.
Kailash Pawar, a progressive farmer of village Bhutai under Mohkhed development block of Chhindwara district, has set a new example in the field of agriculture through innovation. By cultivating the advanced banana variety G-9 in an area of about 18 acres, Pawar has proved that even in land considered difficult, better production is possible with the help of modern technology. In the month of April last year, he had procured G-9 variety saplings from Pune and planted them with drip irrigation system, which was completely ready in just about 11 months.
Farmer Pawar said that after February 15, the entire crop will be harvested by the month of March and there is a possibility of profit of Rs 2.5 to 3 lakh per acre. Seeing the quality of the crop, traders from Jabalpur and Nagpur have visited the fields and inspected them and are contacting them directly from the fields to buy the produce. The special thing is that this banana has been grown on rocky and muddy land, where it is generally not considered possible to grow other crops.
The team of Agriculture Department also reached the farm and observed this innovation and appreciated the techniques adopted by the farmer. Farmer Kailash Pawar has been an innovative farmer since the past. Last year he had earned good profit by cultivating strawberries in about 6 acres of area. In the current year also, he has cultivated strawberries in 6 acres, blueberries in one acre and golden berries in one acre, the produce of which is likely to reach the market after February 15. This initiative of Kailash Pawar is an inspiration for other farmers of the region, which gives the message that agriculture can be made a profitable business with innovation, technology and hard work.
