Raipur : The picture of electricity system in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district has completely changed in the last 25 years. The area, which was part of the undivided Korea district in 2000, has now witnessed a manifold increase in the network of electricity consumers, substations, transformers and lines. Agriculture, industry and domestic consumers have directly benefited from this.
The geographical area of ​​the district was 6,228 square km in the year 2000, which reduced to 4,227 square km after becoming a separate district in 2022. Despite the small area, power facilities have expanded rapidly.

Significant increase in consumer numbers

The total electricity consumers in the district were 21,209 in the year 2000, which has increased to 57,549. High pressure (HT) consumers have increased from 15 to 37 and low pressure (LT) consumers have increased from 9,505 to 57,549.
BPL connections have increased from 3,562 to 22,679, while the number of domestic subscribers has increased from 7,999 to 27,213.

Big relief to agriculture sector

The number of irrigation pump consumers has increased from 128 to 1,159, an increase of almost 9 times. Due to this, farmers are getting regular electricity for irrigation and agricultural production has got a boost.

Substation and transformer increased

132/33 KV sub-stations increased from 1 to 2 (Chainpur and Bahrasi). 33/11 KV sub-stations increased from 4 to 13.
Power transformers have increased from 5 to 17 and distribution transformers have increased from 276 to 3,018.

Big expansion in line network also

High pressure lines have increased from 734 km to 3,718 km and low pressure lines have increased from 368 km to 3,429 km.
The distribution company has ensured 100% electrification of all the villages in the district through one zone and 8 distribution centres. At present regular electricity supply is being provided to more than 57 thousand consumers.
This expansion of power infrastructure has accelerated the pace of development in the district. With improvement in agriculture, small scale industries and domestic facilities, electricity has now become a strong axis of development in MCB district.
