Raipur : With strong willpower, hard work and the support of the state government, life’s difficulties can be transformed into opportunities. This truth has been demonstrated by disabled Rajesh Kumar Patel, a resident of village Chirhula under Masturi development block of Bilaspur district. Despite being disabled in both legs, he did not lose courage and with the help of vocational training, he became self-reliant and provided stability and a dignified life to his family.
Rajesh Kumar Patel received training in electrical trade in the session 2023–24 from Government Sheltered Workshop, Tifra, Bilaspur. This training not only provided them technical proficiency but also gave them confidence, so that they could recognize their abilities and move towards self-employment.
Before training, he was supporting his family through a small paan shop, which had limited income. After completion of training, he started repairing electrical equipment from his home. Presently he is repairing various home electrical appliances including table fan, ceiling fan, cooler, mixer grinder, heater, table lamp, inverter. From this work, his daily income is now ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1500, due to which there has been a significant improvement in his financial condition and the standard of living of the family has also improved. This path of self-reliance has given them new identity and self-respect in the society.
Expressing happiness over his success, beneficiary Rajesh Kumar Patel expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the State Government and Social Welfare Department. He said that the vocational training schemes run by the Social Welfare Department provided them opportunities for respectable livelihood and paved the way to become self-reliant.
