Raipur : On the invitation of the Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the Gedi folk dance group of ‘Lok Shringaar Bharti’, a cultural institution of Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh state, presented Gedi dance in the historic Red Fort courtyard of New Delhi. Representatives from 180 countries participated in the international event held from 7 to 13 December. Gedi dancer troupe of Bilaspur enthralled the audience with their performance at the function. The art culture of Chhattisgarh was greatly appreciated on the international platform. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has congratulated and congratulated this Gedi dancer group.

Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was impressed. He gave the slogan “Chhattisgarhiya Sable Badiya”

The historic moment of celebration came when India’s great festival Diwali was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. In this achievement, the presentation of Gedi folk dance troupe of Chhattisgarh got special appreciation. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was impressed by the soulful and adventurous presentation of Gedi dance. He encouraged the artists by saying “Chhattisgarhia is great”.

Gedi dance troupe enthralls international audience with its thrilling performance

Under the able leadership of lead singer and choreographer Anil Gadhewal, the Gedi dance troupe thrilled the international audience with their powerful, energetic and exciting performance. Foreign Minister Dr. S. was the chief guest in the program. Jaishankar, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, artists from different states and delegates from 180 countries were present.

UNESCO Director General Dr. Khalid N. Representatives from 180 countries including Enani took souvenir pictures with Gedi dance troupe.

The song “Kaat Le Harier Banse” presented by lead singer Anil Gadhewal generated deep curiosity about Chhattisgarhi culture in the minds of foreign delegates. The main Mandal player Mohan Dongre played Mandal while roaming at the same place. Delegates from different countries danced to the tunes of harmonium player Saukhi Lal Kosle and flute player Mahesh Navrang. Gedi dancers Prabhat Banjare, Suraj Khande, Shubham Bhargava, Lakshmi Narayan Mandle, Phoolchand Ogre and Manoj Mandle thrilled the audience with their courageous stunts. Especially when the artists created human formations while balancing on a cart, the entire courtyard erupted in applause.

Gedi dance troupe gave cultural identity to Chhattisgarh state at international level.

The emotional dance presented in the traditional costumes of Chhattisgarh, cowry and ceramic garlands, jute clothes, sikabandh and peacock feathers made the presentation even more attractive. UNESCO Director General Dr. Khalid N. Representatives of various countries including Enani took a memento with the Gedi dance troupe and wished Chhattisgarh the best for getting cultural recognition at the international level.
