Bareilly. Preparations to welcome the New Year are in full swing across the world. People are planning for the New Year, but meanwhile, National President of All India Muslim Jamaat, Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has instructed Muslims not to celebrate the New Year. He said that this is wasteful expenditure. This is prohibited in Islam. This statement of Maulana is going viral on social media.
Maulana Barelvi said that some people are raising questions about celebrating the New Year. In this regard, it is important to clarify that celebrating the New Year is not permissible in the light of Shariat-e-Islamia. The reason for this is that according to the Islamic calendar, the new year starts from the month of Moharram, whereas in the Hindu calendar, the new year starts from the month of Chaitra. The New Year celebrated on January 1 is associated with European culture and is celebrated by people of the Christian community.
Maulana said what is celebration? Is this the way to celebrate on the night of 31st December with mischief, commotion, noise, dancing, singing and extravagance? Shariat does not allow this. Therefore, Muslim young boys and girls are requested not to celebrate. If news is received from anywhere that some boys and girls are celebrating then the Ulama-e-Kiram will strictly stop them. Earlier, Barelvi had said in a religious conference organized in Sant Kabir Nagar that Islam religion completely stands on its principles and the people of our society worship only one God. Maulana Shahabuddin clarified the basic teachings of Islam. He said that some organizations and leaders are insisting on Surya Namaskar, worshiping the earth, rivers and trees and plants, but in Islam, worshiping all these things is haram in Shariat.
