Bhopal The bridge is ready for the convenience of the public but people are wondering how to go from one side to the other? One such bridge has been built in Kolar, Bhopal at a cost of Rs 5 crore and has been ready for 5 years. The special thing is that the bridge has been built but there is no way to go to the other side. Now the public is also asking the question for whom the bridge has been constructed, because once the bridge is ready, no one can use it. In such a situation, the question is whether Rs 5 crore of public money has been washed away in the construction of the bridge.
Bridge built even after Valmi’s refusal
The bridge built at a cost of Rs 5 crore near the Institute of Water and Land Management on Kaliyasot River is ready in 2018. Valmi kept refusing from the beginning, despite this the CPA continued the work by building the bridge. It was completed before the assembly elections, the engineers during whose time the bridge was built have now retired. In the last 10 years, more than 12 plans were made for the approach road but none of the plans were implemented. In July 2024, Valmi was declared a Biodiversity Council and the approach road has become difficult. Now the people of Kolar are asking that what will happen to this bridge when the road from Valmi side is not built?
Had to take a detour of two-three kilometers
The bridge was built to connect Kolar to Bhadbhada and Ratibad roads. Once it becomes operational, residents of more than 60 colonies would benefit. People could also save themselves a trip of about 2 kilometres. For the residents of Rajharsh C Sector Colony, this bridge is the only way out of the colony. Earlier these people used to come and go from inside the Valmi complex. Now it has stopped. Under the pressure of these residents, an approach road of 200 meters was made from the side of the bridge, but the bridge was to be built for the residents of the colony. There is no road for them, so they take a detour of two to three kilometers and reach Kolar.
Local people say that the bridge has been built for a long time. The people of the colony are not able to use it. It seems that the public’s loss of Rs 5 crore has been spent in the name of development.
Action will be taken against guilty officers- Rameshwar Sharma
In this matter, MLA Rameshwar Sharma says that the bridge could not be used due to a dispute between two officers. In this case, action will be taken against the guilty officers and fine will be imposed. At the same time, Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta has also raised questions on the engineers planning and constructing the bridge and asked when will the government stop the wastage of public tax money. However, when we talked to PWD officer SE Mayank Shukla in this matter, he said that a proposal has been sent for the road on the other side of the bridge but till now no response has been received from Valmi. However, he said that the matter is pending at the government level.
Anyway, examples of civil engineering are being seen every day. Sometimes after building a bridge, it is decided to demolish it or the 90 degree Aishbagh Bridge. Often the construction of bridges comes under question. Now it remains to be seen what happens to the Rs 5 crore bridge in future.
