Congress Working Committee meeting was organized in Delhi today. Many important issues were discussed in this meeting. After the meeting, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge made a big announcement. Kharge alleges that the government has abolished the rights of MNREGA. The party will agitate regarding this from January 5.
Will protect MNREGA at any cost
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge held a press conference after the Congress Working Committee meeting. Giving information during this, he said, “Today in the CWC meeting, we took an oath that a big movement will be launched in the country by making the MNREGA scheme the main point. In this oath, we have put forward five points. We take an oath that the Indian National Congress Party will take the leading role and start the ‘Save MNREGA Campaign’ from January 5. We will protect the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) at all costs. MNREGA is not a scheme, it is the right to work given by the Constitution of India. We take a pledge. That we will unitedly fight for the dignity of the rural laborers, and protect the rights of demand-based employment and Gram Sabha. We will democratically oppose every conspiracy to erase the name of Gandhiji from MNREGA and convert the rights of laborers into dole. With faith in the Constitution and democracy, we pledge to save the rights of the laborers and raise our voice in every village.
Rahul Gandhi said – One man show is going on in the country
After the meeting of Congress Working Committee, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also fiercely targeted the Central Government. He said, MNREGA was not just a scheme. MNREGA was a rights based concept. Crores of people in the country got a minimum wage through MNREGA. This is an attack on the concept of direct rights based system, it is also an attack on the federal structure of the states. Center is snatching money from the states. This will cause harm to the country and poor people. I have been told that this decision has been taken directly by the Prime Minister’s Office without consulting the Cabinet. This tells you about today’s situation that a ‘one man show’ is going on. The entire benefit is for just two-three billionaires. This will harm the rural economy.
