Assam assembly elections are going to be unprecedented: Gaurav Gogoi

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi said that the 2026 Assam Assembly elections are going to be unprecedented, this contest will not be between political parties, but between the people of Assam and the person whom he called considering himself a king. He said that the public already knows the identity of the king. Congress leader Gogoi said that the opposition parties are standing with him understanding the anger and frustration prevalent among the people.
He alleged that the ruling party was trying to influence voters through financial inducements, communal polarization and alleged violations of election laws, but the people of Assam would not be affected by this. Gogoi said that the people of the state will unite and send a message that money, force, ego, threats and divisive politics cannot crush their dignity. He pledged to protect the land, culture, heritage, peace and social harmony of Assam. Congress leader Gogoi said that the results of Assam elections will be of national importance and will impact the entire country. He accused the present government of treating citizens like subjects and limiting their rights. Government welfare schemes are being misused to silence the beneficiaries.
