Chaitra Navratri is starting from 19th March and will continue till 27th March. During Chaitra Navratri, different forms of Goddess Bhagwati are worshipped, which are present in every part of the country, but do you know about such a fierce form of Mother Goddess which was related to the Kohinoor diamond. Today we will tell you about the miracles of Bhadrakali Maa of Warangal, which was attacked many times, but the temple is still standing strong. But Kohinoor diamond reached the British.
The goddess temple is on the banks of Bhadrakali lake.
Bhadrakali Temple located in Warangal, Telangana is one of the oldest temples of India, which is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. Situated on the banks of Bhadrakali Lake on a hilltop between the cities of Warangal and Hanamkonda, this temple was built by the Chalukya Empire in 625 AD.
King of Kakatiya dynasty presented Kohinoor
However, in history, the credit for the construction of the temple is also linked to the Kakatiya dynasty, where the king had gifted Kohinoor to Mother Bhadrakali.
Before the Delhi Sultanate attacked the temple, a huge stone statue of Mother Bhadrakali was installed in the temple. Kakatiya king Prataparudra II had implanted the Kohinoor diamond from the mine in the left eye of Mother Bhadrakali to keep it safe.
The invaders attacked and took Kohinoor.
But two centuries later, the temple was attacked by invaders who destroyed the temple and took away the Kohinoor with them. The temple remained deserted for many years under the rule of invaders. Kohinoor reached the British through the Muslim rulers of Delhi.
The temple was rebuilt before 1950.
Before 1950, people built the temple with mutual cooperation and installed the idol made of metal and studded with gems. Only after 1950, devotees started visiting the temple again and today the temple is famous for its unique architecture, rich history and spiritual importance.
There is a statue studded with metal and gems in the sanctum sanctorum.
In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, a statue of the Mother Goddess studded with metal and gems is installed, which has eight arms and weapons are installed in each of the eight arms. This form of Mother Bhadrakali is a symbol of energy and power. Basically this temple is built in Nagara style, which has a square sanctum, a pyramidal shikhara and a pillared hall.
The special thing is that there is a local belief that whoever tried to get Kohinoor always got ruined, whether it was Mughal invaders or Persian or British rulers. Whoever found Kohinoor was doomed. It is believed that Kohinoor was preserved only with Mother Bhadrakali.
