Raipur : Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, which has become a symbol of the sensitive and welfare thinking of the Chhattisgarh government, a mass marriage of 283 couples took place with great pomp at the new fair ground in Rajim on Tuesday. Culture and Tourism Minister Rajesh Aggarwal said that in today’s time, daughter’s marriage has become a matter of great concern for every family, but the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana of Chhattisgarh government has solved it. Under this scheme, assistance of Rs 50 thousand is given per couple, of which Rs 35 thousand is transferred directly to the bank account of the bride. The remaining Rs 15,000 is spent on makeup material, arrangements and other expenses. Aggarwal said that this scheme helps needy families to marry their daughters in a respectable manner. It is a matter of pride for the society to have the marriage of so many couples together with full rituals. He praised the district administration and the Women and Child Development Department and wished the newlyweds a happy married life.
94 couples from Rajim assembly constituency, 181 from Bindranavagarh and 8 couples from Kurud assembly participated in this grand function. This visionary scheme of the state government has given new hope to the economically weaker families. MLA Rohit Sahu said that the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana is a living example of the public welfare spirit of the government.
