Gas leakage from CNG pump in Baranagar, created panic in the area

Gorakhpur. There was a sudden gas leakage from the CNG pump on Saturday evening in the Baranagar Automobile Complex located on the Gola-Barhalganj road of the Nagar Panchayat. The gas released from the pump quickly spread in the surrounding area, due to which people nearby started running here and there due to fear. At the time of the incident, preparations were going on to inaugurate the pump. The situation returned to normal after the main line was closed and the supply was stopped. An officer said that while filling gas from the cylinder kept on the truck, the pipe was left, due to which the leakage occurred. Earlier on Friday too, there was a brief gas leak, which was immediately stopped and rectified. On Saturday, the supply was started after repair work throughout the day, but the gas started leaking again. During the leakage, people nearby started preparing to vacate their houses. Some people made a video of the incident, which went viral on social media. According to Torrent Gas officials, improvement work is currently going on in the pump. The pipeline has not been laid completely yet, hence the supply was being done through cylinders. The construction of the pump has been going on for three years. Officials said that all safety standards will be ensured.
