Raipur : The Technical Education Department is always striving for proper development and coordination of technical education and vocational education in the state. At present, 29 engineering colleges, 53 polytechnic institutions and 101 pharmacy institutions are running under the Technical Education Department. In which 30 courses at undergraduate level are run in engineering institutions, 36 at post-graduate level and 21 three-year courses at diploma level are run in polytechnic institutions. In which about 60 thousand students are studying. Compared to previous years, this year there has been an increase of 20 percent in admissions in engineering and polytechnic institutions.

IIT from session 2025-26. On the lines of upgrading the Government Polytechnic Institutions and Government Engineering Colleges, 04 Chhattisgarh Institutes of Technology with Emerging Branch (Robotics, Internet of Things etc.) have been established and soon Chhattisgarh Institute of Technology will be established in Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg.

In order to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth of Chhattisgarh, MoU was executed with Chhattisgarh Government, Technical Education and Employment Department and i-Hub Gujarat to create i-Hub in Chhattisgarh state and i-Hub was established in Government Engineering College, Raipur. In which guidance related to Startup and Innovation is being provided to the students of the state.

Apanatech to provide employment to the students of technical education institutions. pvt.Ltd. MoU has been signed by the department with CSRBOX.pvt.ltd for providing employment oriented training to the students and MoU has been signed by the department with CII and YI Group for using the Startup and Innovation projects done by them in the industry to make the students self-reliant.

National Education Policy 2020 has been implemented by Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University from the session 2025-26 under the guidance of the Department of Technical Education.

Chief Minister Higher Education Loan Interest Subsidy Scheme has been implemented to provide interest subsidy to the students from poor families, whose parents’ annual income is up to Rs. 2 lakh, taking education in technical and professional courses of Chhattisgarh state, keeping in view the interest rate charged by banks on education loans up to Rs. 4 lakh. Till date, interest subsidy of Rs 22.53 crore has been provided to 11643 students.

204 first class teachers working in government polytechnic institutions were promoted from level 9A to 10 under the Career Promotion Scheme.

Promotion and 205 time scale pay scales have been provided to 116 third class employees working in government engineering colleges and polytechnic institutions. Similarly, 05 class IV employees have been given promotion and 115 time scale and pay scale.

Special efforts for skill training of youth in Bastar division

To establish Skill Development Center (SDC) in every development block of Bastar division, an amount of Rs. 400 lakhs provisioned.

An amount of Rs 100 lakh was approved for the construction of 50 seater boys hostel in Narayanpur district.

Keeping in view the delay in the process of making Aadhaar cards for surrendered Naxalites and Naxal victim family members, the requirement of Aadhaar in pre-registration of skills training was relaxed and it was made necessary for assessment to be done before starting the training so that there is no hindrance in starting the training and resources are available for making Aadhaar.

Out of total 08 rehabilitation centers located in LWE districts, registration of 06 centers (District Bijapur, Wada Nagpur, Sukma) as Vocational Training Provider (VIP) is complete and remaining centers are registered as BOTP, action is under process.

Arrangement of infrastructure and human resources for skill training

A total of 50 rupees were approved for the District Skill Development Authority and District Project Livelihood College Society of new districts.

Rs. 20 lakhs sanctioned for the construction of a total of 18 Livelihood College buildings including 06 new districts and Durg, Bhakara Bhateli Dhamtari.

As per the manifesto, an amount of Rs 200 lakh has been provisioned for setting up an art studio in Livelihood College in the financial year 2025-26.

Agreement with institutions for skill training in modern areas

Contract with Maha Ek Madiya for skill training in tractor mechanic course in 03 districts (Balrampur, Kondagaon, Dantewada)

Contract with SaroTechnology Element for skill training in the field of electric vehicle technology in Raipur.

Agreement with Nandi Foundation to increase ’employability skills’ among youth.

Under the Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme, face based Aadhaar attendance system has been introduced in place of the previously prevalent device (thumb based Aadhaar attendance system).

Chhattisgarh’s achievement in strengthening ITI

Following the instructions of the Honorable Minister, Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Department, Chhattisgarh has made notable achievements in the field of upgradation, modernization and employment-oriented training of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in the last two years.

Major Achievements

Identification of more than 100 new trades, including 16 long term and 91 short term trades

In the year 2024-25, 10 new trades will be started in 13 SIDBI funded ITIs (Drone Technician, 5G Network Technician, 3D Printing, Food Processing etc.).

Establishment of 04 new ITIs in Pipariya (Kabirdham), Korra (Dhamtari), Orchha (Narayanpur) and Kustura (Jashpur).

Number of ITIs increased from 197 to 201.

09 Decision to close 15 irrelevant trades in ITI (effective from August 2025).

04 trades in 03 ITIs affiliated to NCVT.

Through training policy, related training of officers and employees in reputed institutions of the country.

Implementation of responsibility determination, quarterly inspection and trainee feedback system of regional offices.
