Raipur : Taking strict action against the illegal trade of paddy, the district administration is continuously taking action as per the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, under which a major action was taken on Friday. The joint team of Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) and Mandi, while patrolling in village Dhanpur of Tehsil Karpavand, seized a vehicle carrying 30 quintals of paddy being illegally transported from the state of Orissa.
Giving information in this regard, Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Manish Verma said that during patrolling the team stopped vehicle number CG 17 KY 3158. The driver of the vehicle was Pradeep Sao, a resident of village Dharli under Umarkot police station of Orissa. Upon thorough inspection of the vehicle, a total of 30 quintals of paddy was found filled in 60 sacks.
When the joint team demanded valid documents from driver Pradeep Sao regarding transportation of such a large quantity of paddy, he could not present any valid documents. In view of the lack of valid documents, the joint team confiscated 30 quintals of paddy and the vehicle. To ensure further legal action, the seized paddy and vehicle have been handed over to Police Station Karpavand. This activeness and action of the administration is expected to effectively stop the illegal import of paddy in the border areas.
