Kandhamal. Three Maoists have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. These include a women cadre. Police said that the encounter took place at Gumma forest in Baliguda police station area at night.
The two male Maoists killed have been identified as CPI (Maoist) area committee member Bari alias Rakesh and Dalam member Amrit. Both were residents of Chhattisgarh and a total reward of Rs 23.65 lakh was declared on them. The body of another female Maoist was recovered near the encounter site on Thursday morning. He has not been identified yet. No casualties have been reported from the security forces. A revolver, a .303 rifle and a walkie-talkie set have been recovered from the spot. The police officer said that based on the information, a mobile team of the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Odisha Police had started a search operation in the forest. During this time there was an encounter with the Maoists and firing took place from both sides.
