When is Shattila Ekadashi fast?

Importance of Shattila Ekadashi

Method of using sesame seeds in 6 ways
Like in the name of this Ekadashi, Shat means six and Tila means sesame. In this Ekadashi, there is a rule to use sesame (oilseed) in six ways, hence it is called Shattila. On the day of this fast, bathing with sesame seeds, boiling of sesame seeds, havan of sesame seeds, donation of sesame seeds, eating of sesame seeds and using sesame seeds mixed in water as offering to ancestors are done.
Shattila Ekadashi puja method
On the day of Shattila Ekadashi, wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take bath and meditate and resolve to fast with Akshat in your hand. Worship Lord Vishnu by wearing yellow clothes on this day. After this, spread a stool and spread a yellow cloth on it also. After this install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi. Then offer things related to puja like Tulsi Dal, sandalwood, Akshat, fruits, sesame seeds, flowers, clothes, food made from sesame seeds etc. After this, recite Vishnu Sahastranam and Ekadashi fast story. After this, perform Aarti of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi with ghee lamp. Then eat fruits throughout the day and also donate. Do Aarti of God in the evening also and do night vigil. After this, break the fast the next day at an auspicious time.
