Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the year 2026 is being celebrated as Farmer Welfare Year in the state. Diverse climatic zones, adequate irrigation facilities, better road network are available in the state. Taking advantage of this, the goal of “Prosperous Farmers – Prosperous State” is being realized in the state by conducting activities based on the objective of increasing the income of farmers and creating employment in the agricultural sector. Adequate budget has been provisioned for farmer welfare in the budget for the financial year 2026-27, which will help in making farmers self-reliant and doubling agricultural income. There was no shortage of budget even in schemes related to agriculture and farmers. Farmer welfare works will be given impetus from the budget for the financial year 2026-27. With this, the targets set for the farmers welfare year will also be achieved.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the Budget 2026-27 of Madhya Pradesh, important provisions were made for water supply schemes along with agriculture. Through water projects, water for irrigation will be made available to every farmer’s field. The area under irrigation is continuously increasing through irrigation projects in the state. Soon the area under irrigation in the state will reach 100 lakh hectares. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the provisions made for farmers’ welfare in the coming financial year mainly include Rs 343 crore under Pradhan Mantri Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana, Rs 96 crore under electrification work under Pradhan Mantri Jan Man Programme, Rs 13914 crore under Atal Krishi Jyoti Yojana, Rs 5501 crore under Chief Minister Farmer Welfare Scheme, Rs 600 crore under Bhavantar/Flat Rate Scheme, under payment of bonus on crop procurement from farmers at support price. A provision of Rs 150 crore and Rs 53 crore has been made in the Traditional Agricultural Development Scheme.
In the budget, 5 H.P. will be provided by Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board. Rs 5276 crore under reimbursement for free electricity supply to agricultural pumps/threshers and one light connection, Rs 1299 crore under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Rs 1000 crore under Chief Minister Farmer Crop Procurement Assistance Scheme, Rs 525 crore under subordinate and specialist staff (district and subordinate level staff), Rs 450 crore under Drop More Crop, under Chief Minister Krishi Unnati Yojana-2024. Rs 385 crore, Rs 335 crore under Self-Reliance Mission in Pulses (60:40 percent sharing pattern), Rs 266 crore under National Mission on Edible Oil and Oilseeds, Rs 243 crore under Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanization (SMAM), Rs 226 crore under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, Rs 150 crore under Food and Nutrition Security. Rs. 142 crore under National Mission on Natural Farming, Rs. 126 crore under Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (ATMA), Rs. 100 crore under Block Grant to Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Jabalpur, Rs. 100 crore under Self-Reliance Mission in Pulses (100 percent central share), Rs. 100 crore under High Quality Research in Agriculture Sector, for establishment of staff of Assistant Soil Conservation Office. A provision of Rs 59 crore has been made for Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University, Gwalior under the block grant and Rs 57 crore has been made in the self-finance plan of Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University.
Farmer welfare activities will run throughout the year
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that activities related to farmer welfare have been started in the year 2026 as per the annual calendar. In this, the field staff is continuously working to take the agricultural schemes to the farmers’ fields including farmer conferences, public awareness activities, information about government schemes to the farmers through Krishi Rath, agricultural advice, solving the problems of the farmers. To increase the income of farmers and create employment, importance is being given to activities based on agricultural mechanization, training and tour programs for capacity development of farmers, establishment of food processing units, horticulture expansion, FPO creation. Along with this, by ensuring availability of loans at affordable interest rates, farmers are being motivated for activities like micro irrigation, better market network, providing fair prices to farmers for their produce, animal husbandry and fish farming. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that instructions have been given to encourage farmers for climate-friendly agricultural management, sustainable agriculture, promotion of food grain production, conservation of biodiversity and traditional agricultural knowledge and natural and organic farming.
