Chikhlikar was talking to the media before immersing the ashes of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who died in a plane crash on January 28 in his home town Baramati (Pune district). He said that Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar should become the party chief. We all have requested him to take over the leadership of NCP. Senior leaders of the parties also have the same desire. Referring to a meeting held in Mumbai, Chikhlikar said that senior leaders of the party, including Praful Patel and others were present. He was also of the same opinion that Sunetra Pawar should be handed over the command of the organization.
