Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the forests of the state are continuously becoming rich in terms of biodiversity. 9 leopards brought from Botswana Africa by Union Forest Minister Bhupendra Yadav on Saturday have been released in Kuno National Park. This important step has further enhanced the credibility of Madhya Pradesh in the direction of conservation of wildlife. India’s name has been established in the world regarding wildlife. The cheetah, which had become extinct in Asia, is now re-populating its species. The total number of leopards in the state has now reached 48. Also, Madhya Pradesh has become the state with maximum number of tigers and leopards in the country. Madhya Pradesh is also number one in the country in terms of crocodiles. According to the recent census of vultures, the state is becoming rich in biodiversity. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave this information while discussing with media representatives at Gwalior airport.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that even today turtles and crocodiles of rare species are being released in the Kuno river. This is part of the state government’s plan to promote aquatics. Tourism opportunities are being created in the state due to increasing biodiversity due to conservation of wild animals, due to which people are also getting new employment opportunities. The state government is trying to ensure that everyone gets the benefits of these activities.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, taking a historic step forward in the direction of conservation of biodiversity in the state, is today releasing 33 turtles and 53 crocodiles of rare species in the Kuno river. The turtles which are being released in the river have been brought from Barhai, the turtle center of Morena. Of the thirty-three, 25 are the three-banded turtle and 8 are the Indian flap-shell turtle. 53 crocodiles are being released in the Kuno river after being brought from Deori Crocodile Centre. These turtles are Dhongonka and crocodiles, rare aquatic species found in the Ganga and Brahmaputra river areas. Which are priceless heritage of biodiversity and play an important role in maintaining the natural balance of rivers. These species have been placed in the endangered category in the Red List of the international organization International Union for Conservation of Nature. The state government is making meaningful efforts for their conservation.
