Bhopal. The heat of the Professional Examination Board scam in Madhya Pradesh has not subsided yet. The echo of the large-scale scam was heard from the state assembly to the country’s parliament. In the latest case related to this scam, a government doctor has recently been sentenced. The Bhopal court has convicted a person who became a government doctor by obtaining a medical seat on the basis of fake documents. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Atul Saxena sentenced the accused Dr. Sitaram Sharma to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2,000. This case is an important link related to the much talked about Vyapam scam. Convict Dr. Sitaram Sharma is currently posted as Medical Officer in the Government Hospital of District Bhind. According to the prosecution, the accused, after passing the PMT examination in the year 2009, had submitted a forged (fake) native certificate of Ambah tehsil of Morena district for the purpose of availing illegal benefit of state quota of Madhya Pradesh. During investigation it came to light that the accused is originally a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He received his high school (1984) and intermediate (2001) education from Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education. Scrutiny of Ambah Tehsil records revealed that no Domicile Certificate was ever issued in the name of the accused. This fraud was exposed after the complaint of Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Shri Digvijay Singh, in which he had alleged that candidates from Uttar Pradesh are capturing the medical seats of Madhya Pradesh through fake documents. In the case, Special Public Prosecutor Akil Khan and Sudha Vijay Singh Bhadauria effectively presented the case on behalf of the government, on the basis of which the court convicted the accused. The court sentenced the accused Dr. Sitaram Sharma to three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000. This case is also an important link related to the much talked about Vyapam scam.
