PM housing construction gains momentum in Surguja district

Raipur : Significant progress has been recorded in housing construction works under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) in Surguja district. Out of the total 1,02,210 houses sanctioned in the district, 80,296 houses have been completed, which shows more than 50 percent achievement. The construction work of 1,781 houses has been completed this month. To speed up the construction works, the installment amount is being transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries within the time limit through Aadhaar based DBT system.

Out of 36,306 houses sanctioned in the financial year 2024-26, 18,782 houses have been completed. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 1.20 lakh is provided to each beneficiary after geo-tag based verification at the acceptance, plinth and completion stage. So far, first installment (Rs 40,000) has been issued to 35,125 beneficiaries, second installment (Rs 55,000) to 23,419 and third installment (Rs 25,000) to 10,367 beneficiaries.

In the last one month, an amount of Rs 1,349.05 lakh was released while completing 1,634 houses. Also, a total of Rs 1,628.60 lakh was transferred to the accounts of the beneficiaries. Apart from this, wage payment of 90 man-days under MNREGA and additional assistance of Rs 12,000 is also being provided after construction of toilet under Swachh Bharat Mission.

Under PM Janman Yojana, approval has been given to 2,565 Pahari Korwa beneficiaries in the district, out of which 1,385 houses have been completed. The assistance amount of Rs 2.00 lakh per beneficiary is released in four phases. In the last one month, 73 Janman Awas were completed and an amount of Rs 217 lakh was released.

Under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme (Rural), 1,024 houses have been sanctioned in the district, out of which 214 houses have been completed. In the last one month, after completing 74 houses, an amount of Rs 62.55 lakh has been transferred to the accounts of the beneficiaries.

To ensure progress in housing construction, a total incentive amount of Rs 61.97 lakh has been provided to 45 Awas Mitras and 218 employment assistants. At present, no installment of any beneficiary is pending for payment in the district, which shows the transparent and active functioning of the administration.
