Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan kept his report card, registration of 11.40 lakh workers in 2 years

CG News: Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan held a press conference today and told about the achievements of 2 years. Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan said that 11.40 lakh workers were registered by the divisions under the department in the last 02 years.

In which about 9.4 lakh construction workers. 1.39 lakh unorganized workers and 98 thousand organized workers are included. In the last 02 years, 29,55,254 workers have been benefited with an amount of Rs 804.77 crore in 71 schemes. Out of which, 28,49,167 construction workers have been benefited with approximately Rs. 653.75 crore, 91,595 unorganized workers with approximately Rs. 143.77 crore, and 14,592 organized workers with approximately Rs. 7.24 crore. The benefits payable to the workers by the department are being transferred directly to their accounts through centralized DBT.

In the last two years, a total of 2218 inspections of factories in the state have been conducted under the Factories Act. After violations of the provisions were found, 666 cases have been filed against the factory managements in the Labor Court and a total fine of more than Rs 5 crore has been collected.

11.40 lakh workers registered in 2 years
Under the Employees’ State Insurance Act, the number of workers insured in the last two years has increased from 4.60 lakh to 6.26 lakh. 100 bedded hospitals are running in Raipur, Korba, Raigarh and Bhilai and action is under process to start a hospital in Bilaspur soon. Similarly, 43 dispensaries are operating in the state and the process of opening 04 new dispensaries is under process.

All the 17 reforms prescribed by the Department under the recommendations and business reforms of the Government of India have been implemented in the interest of the workers and employers of the state. To provide exemption to small traders, Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishment Act, 2017 read with Rules, 2021 have been implemented on institutions employing 10 or more workers. He said that a provision has been made for a new category of employees, “fixed time employment workers”, who will get the same salary, allowances and other facilities as regular employees. In view of women empowerment, women workers have been given the right of conditional employment in night shift. The period of factory license has been increased from 10 to 15 years.

Regarding the upcoming action plan of the department, the Labor Minister informed that a bill has been passed again in the State Assembly to implement the Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishment Act in shops and establishments employing 20 or more workers and has been sent to the Honorable President for approval.
