Saffron rains from the sky on the night of Mahashivratri
At midnight of Mahashivratri, yellow-orange particles like saffron are suddenly seen falling on the temple premises and surrounding hills. This scene lasts only for a short time, but those who witness that moment describe it as the most divine experience of life. People consider it a symbol of the grace and blessings of Lord Shiva.
Centuries old faith still persists today
Goyaneshwar Bhakhar Mahadev Temple has remained the center of unwavering devotion of the local people for years. It is believed that prayers made here with a true heart definitely get fulfilled. On the occasion of Mahashivratri, devotees from far and wide reach here and remain engrossed in bhajan-kirtan and worship throughout the night. It is situated about 65 kilometers away from Barmer district headquarters.

On the day of Mahashivratri, devotees start arriving in the temple premises from early morning. Devotees anoint Lord Shiva by offering water, milk, belpatra and datura. By nightfall, the whole area echoes with the chants of “Har-Har Mahadev” and “Bam-Bam Bhole”. Goyaneshwar Bhakhar Mahadev Temple has remained the main center of faith of devotees for years. Devotees from far away villages and districts come here for darshan. It is believed that the wishes made with true heart are fulfilled here.

Not only this, the hills surrounding the temple start shining like gold for a moment on the night of Mahashivratri. As soon as the moonlight and special particles present in the atmosphere fall on the hills, the entire area glows with a golden glow.
