Bilaspur. A 12-day micro entrepreneurship development program was grandly inaugurated at Guru Ghasidas Central University under the joint aegis of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Trust, New Delhi and Indian Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDII), Ahmedabad. The objective of the program was to develop entrepreneurial thinking among students and youth, to identify self-employment opportunities and to encourage innovation-based entrepreneurship. Dr. Sunil Shukla from Indian Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Ahmedabad was present as a special guest in the program. At the same time, Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, honored with the President’s Award in the field of education, participated as a special speaker. The program was presided over by Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Alok Chakrawal. Dr. Neelambari Dave, former Vice Chancellor of Saurashtra University, was present in the program as a special guest. The convenor of the said program, University Unit Convenor of Education Culture Upliftment Trust, Prof. Seema Rai, Advisor Prof. Anupama Saxena and Program Coordinator University Incubation Center and Director of MMTTC Prof. Alok Kumar Singh Kushwaha was present on this occasion. Addressing the inaugural session, Dr. Sunil Shukla said that in today’s competitive era, not only degree but also skills, innovation and risk taking ability are equally important. He stressed on connecting students with startup culture, micro enterprises based on local resources and the vision of self-reliant India. Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, in his address, underlined the role of entrepreneurship in the present education system and said that the objective of education should not be only to get employment, but to prepare a citizen who can create employment. He inspired the students to set up enterprises with practical learning, problem-solving based learning and social responsibility. The Vice Chancellor, in his presidential statement, said that the University is committed to providing the necessary platform, guidance and resources to the students to become entrepreneurs along with education. He expressed confidence that this program will prove helpful to the students in taking concrete steps towards self-employment and startup. During the program, participants were given information on important topics like micro entrepreneurship, business plan making, financial literacy, government schemes and market connectivity. The presence of a large number of students, teachers and researchers made the program a success. The program ended with a vote of thanks, in which the organizers expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the guests, participants and the university administration.
