BhopalPolitics regarding wheat support price has intensified in Madhya Pradesh. Congress President Jitu Patwari has written a letter to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav demanding to ensure purchase of wheat at the rate of Rs 2700 per quintal. He alleged that the state government has done injustice to the farmers by reducing the bonus amount this year.
The state government had given a bonus of Rs 175 on the central support price.
In his letter, Patwari said that despite declaring the year 2026 as the agricultural year in the state and convening the Agriculture Cabinet, farmers are not getting relief at the ground level. He told that last year the Central Government had declared support price of Rs 2425 per quintal, on which the State Government had given a bonus of Rs 175. Thus, the total was purchased at the rate of Rs 2600 per quintal.
The state government announced a bonus of Rs 15 this year.
This year, the support price of Rs 2585 per quintal has been declared by the Central Government, but the State Government has announced a bonus of only Rs 15. Patwari says that if the government had given a bonus of Rs 175 like last year, then the farmers could have got a profit of Rs 2700 per quintal, as was promised in the resolution letter. He also mentioned that a bonus of Rs 150 is being given in the neighboring state of Rajasthan.
Congress raised questions on the registration process
Congress has also raised questions on the registration process. He says that the registration website for selling crops at support price repeatedly gets closed or becomes slow, due to which the farmers are facing problems. In many districts, wheat harvesting has been completed and farmers are reaching the markets, but due to non-start of procurement, they have to sell the crop at low prices.
