Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the Khelo MP Youth Games on January 13 at 6 pm. Khelo MP Youth Games will start with water projection, laser show, grand fireworks, presentation by Shefali Alvares and Divya Kumar at Water Sports Academy, Boat Club Bada Talab Bhopal. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang reached the venue on Monday and took stock of the arrangements. He gave necessary directions to the police and district administration officials. Minister Sarang said that Khelo MP Youth Games are being organized for the first time in the country with the joint coordination of the Sports Department and all the recognized sports associations. MP’s biggest game Mahakumbh will be inaugurated grandly from Bhopal, the city of lakes. The grandeur of Bhopal’s ponds will be visible in live form at the inauguration ceremony.
Competition in 4 phases at development block, district, division and state level
Minister Sarang said that the logo, t-shirt, torch, anthem and mascot of “Khelo MP Youth Games” will be launched in the program. The competition will run till January 31. The competition will be conducted in four phases at development block, district, division and state level. About 1.50 lakh players will participate in it. Players who have excelled in youth games will be given priority in further state team selection.
State level competitions from 28th to 31st January
Minister Sarang said that the winning players at the state level will be given an amount of about Rs 4 crore as prizes. In this, first prize will be Rs 31 thousand, second prize will be Rs 21 thousand and third prize will be Rs 11 thousand. The selection process will start from the block level. Block level competitions will be held from 13 to 16 January, district level competitions from 16 to 20 January, division level competitions from 21 to 25 January and state level competitions from 28 to 31 January.
There will be competitions for 28 sports
Minister Sarang said that a total of 28 sports competitions will be organized in Khelo MP Youth Games-2025. For better coordination with sports associations, coordination officers have been appointed by the department. Sports lovers will be invited to the opening and closing ceremonies and representatives of national sports federations will also attend as guests. The respective games will be organized in the areas where they have tradition and popularity.
313 development blocks of the state will participate
Minister Sarang said that state level competitions are proposed to be organized in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Sagar and Narmadapuram. Under the block level selection process, 313 development blocks of the state will participate at the district level. At the state level, teams from 10 divisions of the state – Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Sagar, Rewa, Chambal, Narmadapuram and Shahdol will participate.
11 sports competitions in three phases
Minister Sarang said that there will be competitions of 11 sports in three phases (block, district and state level). These include hockey, boxing, athletics, kho-kho, swimming, table tennis, mallakhamb, wrestling, judo, chess, weightlifting. Competitions of 10 sports will be organized in four stages (block, district, division and state level). This includes football, volleyball, cricket, badminton, pittu, basketball, tennis, yoga, tug of war, kabaddi. Competitions in Archery, Taekwondo, Kayaking-Canoeing, Rowing, Fencing, Shooting, Throw Ball will be organized directly at the state level.
Different venues for different sports
Minister Sarang said that the venues for organizing different sports are different. Athletics in Bhopal, Fencing, Boxing, Cricket (Men), Rowing, Kayaking (Canoeing), Swimming, Shooting, Hockey (Men), Throw-ball, Basketball in Indore, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, Tennis, Swimming, Women’s Cricket in Shivpuri, Hockey (Women) in Gwalior, Badminton, Pittu, Malkhamb in Ujjain, Yogasana, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Wrestling, There will be Kho-Kho, Archery competitions in Jabalpur, Football in Rewa, Chess, Taekwondo and Judo competitions in Narmadapuram.
Minister Sarang said that Khelo MP Youth Games will give an opportunity to the emerging players of the state to showcase their talent and will play an important role in taking MP to new heights in the field of sports.
